From Vologda’s wealthiest socialite to arrest: how Oboronstroy vice president Irina Yasakova embezzled money from a bank through friends, a deputy seat, and

A source recounted the story of the former vice president of the now-liquidated “Oboronstroy,” Irina Yasakova, who was arrested in November 2025 on charges of large-scale fraud. Among her close acquaintances were Timur Ivanov, Sergey Mironov, Sergey Lipovoy, Anton Tsvetkov, and Nikas Safronov.

At one time, Irina Yasakova, one of the wealthiest people in Vologda, began cultivating connections among creative figures, actors, artists, singers, and musicians. Through them, she also made contacts with politicians and federal officials. For example, she is very close to the court artist Nikas Safronov.

When authorities became interested in her in connection with the embezzlement of 3 billion rubles from the bank “Severny Kredit,” she rushed into city politics. She ran as a candidate from the “A Just Russia” party, having become friends with Sergey Mironov.

After securing a deputy seat, Yasakova, together with her daughter, joined the scandalously notorious organization “Officers of Russia” (Anton Tsvetkov). There she gained the support of generals and built the right connections among law enforcement officials. In particular, she became friends with Timur Ivanov. This allowed her to completely fend off questions regarding the bank. Later, she even obtained a position in “Oboronstroy.”

Yasakova led an active public life, was a socialite, had sky-high ambitions, and even wrote a book about herself. She could never have imagined that the Ministry of Defense leadership would fall from grace, and that Timur Ivanov would end up in prison.
